Pioneer Friends of Davy Crockett Board Meeting


September 2, 2010

Call to order:

Pres. Heather Youngblood

Reading of the Minutes:

Minutes of the August 5, 2010 meeting of the Board were approved as read.

Treasurer’s Report:

Karen West delivered the Treasurer’s Report.

Park Manager’s Report:

Park Manager Mark Halback informed the group that next year is the 225th anniversary of Davy Crockett’s birth and that ideas were being formulated to commemorate the occasion. A representative of TN Public Television wishes to attend next year and wants to give our library some of his history books as a gift.

Old Business:

Motion: offered by Doug Ledbetter to rescind two votes made in the Aug. 5, 2010 open Board meeting for monetary purchases and gifts as it was realized that the motion was not made by a current board member.

Seconded: Robert Etheredge

Motion passed unanimously

New Business:

An Appreciation Cook-out for the Park Hosts was given to thank the park hosts for their diligent handling of sales of ice and firewood. A gift card was given to each host.

Doug Ledbetter suggested putting up a sign on Highway 11-E with information about current activities at the park. He will gather details on accomplishing this. Neal Boger will assist Doug in this matter.

Pam Etheredge suggested a need for more books for the library that would be of particular interest to women. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Motion: by Robert Etheredge to cancel the October board meeting

Seconded: by Pam Etheredge

Motion passed unanimously

Steve Ricker is organizing educational programs for Greene County Schools about the Overmountain Men campaign to the Battle of Kings Mountain.

The next open board meeting will be at 6:00pm Thurs., Nov. 4,2010 at the park museum.

Motion made, seconded, and approved to adjourn.
