Annual Members Meeting Minutes
Meeting date: 6/13/2013
Call to order: An Annual Members Meeting of the The Pioneer Friends was held at the Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park, Limestone TN, on 6/13/2013. The meeting convened at 6:30 pm, Robert Etheredge, President presiding, and Dale Trombley, acting secretary.
Members in attendance: Heather Youngblood, Pam Etheredge, Steve Alexander, Doug Ledbetter, Tim Massey, Peggy Bishop, Charles Bishop, Joseph Gamble, Ken Tester, Josh Daniels, Melodie Daniels, Ed Ruch, Dale Trombley.
Approval of minutes: Motion was made by Doug, and Heather seconded to approve the minutes of the 5/16/2013 meeting. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s report: Checking Account Balance as of June, 1 2013: $5050.94. Education Fund (Savings) $1862.82. Total Assets $6913.76
–Doug motioned for the BBQ dinner for Crockett Days, Saturday, August 17th would be $10.00 per person. Last year we had about 45-50 eaters, this year we would estimate 60-70 eaters.
-Ken explained 5 tires had been donated by the Washington co. Co-Op and that they would mount and balance the tires for free. Tubes would be necessary but they were willing to sell to us at cost, about $9.00 per tire. Ken asked that this charge be reimbursed. The group decided this was far below the original estimate of $50 per tire or $300 max that was agreed and passed in a prior meeting.
New business: -Ken stated that he and Dawn had a meeting with the Greene County Partnership, the 200th Anniversary of the Grand Lodge for Masons in Tennessee want to do a Laying of the Wreath ceremony for Crockett on or about Sept 27, 28. This event will appear on the Masons website, as well as in an article in the Greeneville Sun. Ken will update us later on a more accurate time, re-enactors would be much appreciated at this event.
-Doug explained that the tomahawks previously used at events are the personal property of Mark Halback and they have been removed by Mark from the park. Doug purchased replacement tomahawks from James Townsend catalog at $60 and moved for a reimbursement. Pam made an amended motion that the reimbursement come from the education fund. Steve seconded the motion. The motion passed.
-Steve, Asked Ken for an update on the Kids Camp. Ken answered that the Kids Camp is in Dawns hands but she was not in attendance.
Doug motioned that the prior board nominations be approved. Ed seconded. The motion passed. New board members are: Heather Youngblood, Dale Trombley, Doug Ledbetter, Chad Bogart, Robert Etheredge.
-Handicap access for the proposed location for Crockett Days Re-enactment camp.
-Port-a-potties have not been arranged yet for Crockett Days.
-Joseph Gamble is the new Seasonal Interpretive Ranger, please help to make him feel welcomed.
-The Crockett Friends group would like to say a special thanks to the Daniels Family for tending the Friends Group booth at the Appalachian Craft Fair..
