Treasurer’s report: Total Assets $6176.98.

Park Managers Update: Park is still a mess and still shooting for May 18th. Pavement is scheduled to come wednessday (5-7-14). State is cutting finances for park rebuild and Bill Knapp has assured us he is fighting it tooth and nail. As of now there will be no new concrete, no stump grinding and no new dump station.

– Firing raing is done but could be ‘accentuated’

-Pool cleaning will be done this week, and there is a possibility of having a concessions stand this year.

-Sewage treatment plant is working

-Wifi for campground is a bit ‘stuck’ at this point.

-Seasonal interpreter starting in May and will be see Joseph Campbell return for that duty.

-Bill Knapp made some Davy Crockett stickers and asked the group for his initial investment of $50. Tim authorized that reimbursement.

-Two corn snakes are now being kept at the park, and the naming campaign has begun on the parks facebook page.

-We have two established honey bee hives.

-For the Heritage Fair Dawn has noted:

  • We have a food vendor
  • 14 craft vendors
  • tractors
  • sheep shear
  • music

-Dawn also wanted to emphasize that pioneer kids camp will not be a paid event and will be by volunteer only status.

-History month had only 12 people, the group discussed that it had bad advertising.

-Cleanup last saturday had no one show up for volunteering

-Bill Knapp is asking the group for $300 (in his estimation it won’t actually cost near that much) for a window in the museum.

-Bill Knapp said the wagon from last years Crockett Days is NOT state approved and will likely never be. Is asking to sell, the group sentiment is it has no title and agreed that selling would be best.

Ed – Announced we had 21 members

– Friends group tent needs to be found (as of this writing it has been found)

-Firewood needs a better way to distribute and handle

  • Should be bundled
  • Tickets need to match money collected
  • 5 gallon bucket ideal for bundle and bailing of wood with twine

Tim – Windows to the past (Doug and Artie) will unveil the Crockett Muriel downtown June 7

-Greeneville astros will be having a history theme night promotion Saturday July 19 and is asking the Friends of Crockett to represent.

-The Heritage Fair, June 7-8, Dale has a greed to ask Will Vogt of Graysburg Forge to demonstrate blacksmithing. (update: Graysburg Forge will not be able to make it to the Heritage Fair event, but has agreed to making an appearance for Crockett Days).
